Curiosity, Creativity, Individuality
The academic program of Harris Christian Education focuses on teaching
young boys how to learn. With an environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and individuality, our teachers aim to assist each student in recognizing their unique strengths and inspiring them to become lifelong learners. They encourage students to take risks and develop independent thinking.
The curriculum at HCE places great emphasis on the development of problem-solving, critical thinking, and fundamental skills in the core subjects of reading and writing, mathematics, social studies, and science.
In addition to the core academic curriculum, the school offers classes in physical education, art, music, computer science, and library science.
The students also take part in various activities such as attending assembly programs, serving on student councils, and participating in community service.
As educators, teachers use their behavior and approach to impart the idea
that learning is a continuous journey and active involvement is key to achieving success. The program aims to motivate young students to develop
a love for learning and instill in them the necessary skills and habits to make education an enjoyable and purposeful experience.
Engaging Active Minds
At HCE, we acknowledge that boys are dynamic learners and we make every effort to involve them in a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses academics, arts, music, and athletics. Our academic curriculum is tailored
to instill effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and leadership qualities in boys. We customize our programs and surroundings to cater to
the distinct educational and developmental requirements of boys.
Relational Learning
Relational Learning pertains to the bonds and interactions between male students and their educators, encompassing both academic and emotional facets that motivate boys to excel in their studies. A recent study conducted
by Richard Hawley and Michael Reichert, titled "From Whom The Boy Toils"
The Primacy of Relationship in Boy's Learning," drew upon a wealth of data collected from teachers and students in boys' schools worldwide, illustrating the crucial role that relationships play in a boy's educational journey. When teachers make the effort to connect with their students on a personal level, they not only enhance their own teaching abilities but also cultivate a holistic learning experience that benefits the entire individual.
Harris Christian Education places great emphasis on academic excellence while also instilling a biblical perspective. Our learning approach is dynamic and imaginative, provided within a structured and supportive environment.
As a community of learners, we strive to promote the cognitive, spiritual, relational, physical, and emotional development of each student by integrating biblical principles into real-life scenarios.
Our program classes for grades 1-5 aim to bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten. Our carefully planned curriculum has been designed to provide an enriched learning experience that enhances the age-appropriate development of children. Our team of degreed and certified teachers guides their students through a theme-based curriculum that focuses on four basic skills: Verbal and Linguistics, Gross and Fine Motor Skills, Logic and Mathematics, and Social and Interpersonal Relationships.
To complement and enhance this curriculum, we offer Bible, art, music, PS, computer, and Spanish classes. Furthermore, we incorporate SmartBoard technology into our classrooms and our teachers use a variety of assessments and individualized instructional strategies to support the learning styles of each child. Our goal is to foster the individual growth of each child spiritually, socially, academically, and physically.
